The Incredible Sam Brown

Although I hate discussions of "Who's the Best", I can say that Sam Brown is my personal favorite female musical performer since Mahalia Jackson because of her incredible range of voice and material and, most of all, her absolutely natural presentation and obvious love for the art. She has such a refreshing lack of self absorbtion that afflicts so many of today's performers and an equally welcome lack of incessant posing . I suppose that a performer of her unique ability and natural approach doesn't need such trappings. Although her physical beauty is obvious, her beauty of spirit, self assured enthusiasm and spontaneity, and natural humility is even more striking. If you have somehow never heard of Sam Brown, you can rest assured that true musical artists and performers everywhere stand in awe of her phenomenal talant and abilities.

Her first album was a worldwide hit but she shunned the superficial dictates of the pop-minded music moguls and labels and, being a talanted and versatile songwriter in her own right, in addition to her incredible performing abilities, she did things her way with the help of her talented family (the Beatles used to open the show for her father Joe).
